Frequently Asked Questions
Is ultrasound safe?
Ultrasound is safe. It uses sound waves to image and does not use ionizing radiation, such as X-rays or CT scans.
Do I need a Doctor's order or referral to get an ultrasound?
No, you can schedule an ultrasound directly without a referral. However, we love our referring providers, and if you have a doctor's order or referral, we will accept that as well.
What types of Ultrasounds do you offer?
In addition to looking at babies, ultrasound is great for looking at the soft tissues in the abdomen and pelvis for sources of pain or discomfort. We also offer general, vascular, thyroid, and other soft tissues ultrasounds, looking at lumps or bumps under the skin.
How much does an ultrasound cost?
Prices vary by exam type, but all services are offered at a transparent, affordable flat rate, which includes the cost of the radiologist's interpretation.
Do you accept insurance?
No, we operate on a self-pay model. This allows us to keep costs low and eliminate surprise billing. You are welcome to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. But you may need to contact them first before coming in.
Is this the same quality as in a hospital?
Yes, we use diagnostic-grade ultrasound equipment similar to a hospital, and our scans are interpreted by board-certified radiologists.
Will I get a copy of my results?
Yes, you will receive a report in your email within 24-48 business hours and can request digital images to share with your doctor.
Can I use my HSA/FSA to pay?
Yes, you can use your Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA).
Are your sonographers certified?
Yes, all of our technologists are ARDMS or equivalently credentialed professionals.
Can I find out the gender of my baby?
Yes, gender determination is available after about 14-16 weeks.
Do you offer 3D or 4D ultrasounds?
Yes, 3D/4D imaging is offered for a more detailed and fun view of the baby.
Will this replace my doctor's ultrasound?
Our scans are complementary to your routine prenatal care. Our diagnostic scans are evaluated and dictated by a board-certified radiologist.
What preparation is needed prior to the scan?
Before the complete abdomen, you should be fasting for 8 hours, so it is best to schedule that appointment in the morning. For the pelvis, it is recommended that you drink 32 oz of water 1 hour before the scan and hold your bladder.
